YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

The things worth knowing.

Portable buildings and modular homes come with important decisions. Here are answers to common first questions.

Do portable buildings need council or building approval?
Requirements depend on the building type, intended use, location and whether it is permanently installed. Some transportable and prefabricated buildings require planning and/or building approvals. Check with the relevant authority and qualified building professionals before ordering.
Can I use a portable building as a granny flat?
Potentially, but whether it can legally be used as a dwelling depends on its classification, design, services, site conditions and applicable local planning and building requirements. A portable unit is not automatically an approved dwelling.
Do you supply imported buildings?
FXIRM Portables is developing an imported-product range. Available configurations, supplier documentation, costs and lead times are confirmed through a project enquiry.
Do you also offer Australian-built options?
Yes, Australian-developed and locally customised solutions are part of the planned range. We confirm the actual manufacturing or assembly location for any quoted product.
Can you deliver outside Queensland?
We welcome enquiries throughout Australia. Freight, lifting, access, installation and the practical delivery area are assessed individually.
Can I customise the size or layout?
Customization depends on the selected product, engineering and manufacturing pathway. Let us know your preferred size, layout and inclusions so we can assess options.
Are prices shown online?
We use project-specific quotations at this stage. Product type, inclusions, freight, installation, services and approval requirements can change the final price significantly.
What is included in a quote?
Every proposal should identify the actual inclusions, exclusions and assumptions, including transport, crane work, site preparation, connection of services and any approval responsibilities.
How long does a building take to deliver?
Timing depends on manufacturing, supplier lead times, shipping, approvals, customisation and delivery location. We provide a project-specific timeframe once the relevant details are known.
Can you help with site works and installation?
We can discuss coordinating appropriate installation and site-related services where available. Work requiring a licence must be completed by appropriately licensed contractors.
Is a flat-pack unit suitable for residential living?
Not automatically. Residential occupation requires an appropriate building solution, compliance documentation and relevant approvals. Flat-pack formats need to be evaluated for their intended use.
How do I start?
Send us an enquiry with the building type, delivery postcode, intended use and approximate timeframe. We can then discuss suitable next steps.
